Coaching & Volunteering
Coaching & Volunteering
Over 500 people commit their time and expertise into delivering quality judo experiences for our members across Scotland throughout the year.
A huge amount of the workforce members are volunteers and fulfil roles that include: Coach, Technical Official, Referee, Senior Examiner, Club Welfare Officer and Committee Member, and without them much of the success that Scotland enjoys in judo just would not happen.
Through our People Development Team a team of trainers and tutors, led by the JudoScotland People Development Executive, deliver training and qualifications across all areas to ensure that all our members have the necessary skills to fulfil their role to their potential.
Do you have something to offer? Have you had some great experiences from judo and would like to help provide similar opportunities for others? Are you keen to develop new skills, perhaps challenging yourself in the process; or are you just keen to join an enthusiastic team that are committed to developing our amazing sport?
Whatever your reason for getting involved we would love to hear from you. Use the tabs below to search for a role that interests you and find out more about it: what is involved, what skills you will need & develop and the opportunities that you will enjoy by joining in.
Coaching
Coaches are at the front line of judo and are an integral part of clubs. We currently train new coaches coming through and provide continuous professional development for coaches already on the pathway. We hold a number of events and courses each year all designed at improving our coaching workforce within Scotland. Look out for our Technical Excellence program and our flagship event ‘The Gathering’.
Technical Official
From Timekeepers to Competition Controllers Technical Officials are the volunteers at events that carry out roles other than the referee.
Referee
The referee is the volunteer who can be found in the centre of all the action at tournaments and gradings ensuring the contests are conducted in a fair and safe way.
Clubs
JudoScotland values the hard work of our member clubs without whom we wouldn’t be able to develop Judo in Scotland.
Members
We want to make judo accessible to whoever wants to take part, as a JudoScotland member you will have access to a variety of benefits.
