Our third National Kyu and Dan of 2024 is set to take place on the 10th of November at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility. We are thrilled to also be including a Veterans National 1st Kyu and Dan Grading as part of the event.
Important Information
- You must have a current JudoScotland or BJA Membership to enter a grading event. All theory assessments will be conducted at the start of the day; this will be followed by a formal welcome with all participants from the theory exam and competitive grading.
- If you would like to book a place for a theory assessment please do so by ticking the “Theory exam” box. Only by ticking this box will an assessment opportunity be guaranteed.
- The expected finish time is 4 pm approximately and all participants within the Dan grading MUST make themselves available for contests until the Senior Examiners close the proceedings. Failure to adhere to this may result in the non-validation of the points you have attained.
- Any candidate presenting themselves for a Technical Dan Grade assessment should familiarise themselves with British Judo’s guidelines.
- Depending on the specific grade, the candidate may require several assessments to complete the required technical content.
Changes to Competitive Dan Grading Contest Durations
JudoScotland is introducing a key change to contest durations for Competitive Dan Gradings to align with the British Judo Association’s (BJA) Dan Grade Promotion Syllabus. Starting at the next National Grading on the 10th of November, held at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, competitors under the age of 30 will see their contest duration extended from 3 to 4 minutes.
The updated durations are as follows:
- Under 30s NPEs: Contest duration will now be 4 minutes.
- Combined NPEs for Under 30s and Veterans: Contest duration will also be 4 minutes, allowing Veterans (Vets) the option to decide if they wish to participate under this new format.
- Veterans-Only NPEs: Contest duration remains at 3 minutes.
As part of our ongoing commitment to improving the event experience, we are now in a position to align timing with the BJA’s standards to support a consistent experience across events.
