The Level 1 Coaching Course is designed to provide aspiring coaches with the foundational skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to deliver effective and safe coaching sessions. It serves as the first step in your coaching journey, equipping you to support players in their development while fostering a positive training environment.

We now have a blended learning approach to our coaching system, so please read on before going ahead and booking the course. Prior to attending you will have to complete an online section which we have given you two weeks to complete. Once registration is closed, all the candidates will be sent a link to our Bright Space platform for you to work through the online modules.

The cost for this course is £200
*Number of funded places will be limited to 16, course cost will be £200 thereafter.
*Assessments completed past the assessment dates forfeit funding and will be chargeable at £75 per assessment.
Over the last fifteen years JudoScotland have received a subsidy from sportscotland to make coaching more affordable to a wider audience.
In 2024/25 sportscotland have updated their focus to shine a spotlight on EDI. This refocus now means that JudoScotland must refresh our subsidy policy moving forward, through our ‘Judo for All’ strategy we have identified some key target groups that will be considered for financial subsidy against our course costs.

Coach education subsidy funding – sportscotland the national agency for sport in Scotland
JudoScotland will consider course subsidy applications from all qualifying JudoScotland members who sit in one or more of our target groups for 2024/25.
• Females
• Members 16 years to 25 years
• Members from rural areas
• Disabled members
• Members from ethnic minorities
• Members living in 20% most deprived area according to the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) https://simd.scot/#/simd2020/BTTTFTT/9/-4.0000/55.9000/
Successful applicants will receive funding at the rate of 25%, 50% or 75% towards the cost of their course.
To see if you qualify for subsidy for this event please complete the online form when you have selected your ticket.
If your application for subsidy is successful, a partial refund will be issued to you, you will also be notified by email.
If the applicant agrees to the subsidy offered and accept, they must complete the course within the dates advertised, failure to adhere to the agreed dates will result in the funding being forfeited and the applicant being invoiced for the required amount or the subsidy not being granted.
